Participation Options
N2026 offers two participation options.In-Person Participation (recommended)
In-Person Participants attend the conference in Kyoto and have full access to all conference activities, including oral and poster sessions, lunches, coffee breaks, networking events, and other on-site services.
All poster presentations at N2026 will be managed through the Confit e-poster system. In-Person Participants presenting posters will therefore also use the e-poster and chat functions.
E-Poster Participation
E-Poster Participation is intended for colleagues who wish to present their work but are unable to travel to Kyoto.
E-Poster Participants may:
Have their abstracts included in the conference program and abstract book;
Upload an e-poster through Confit;
Communicate with participants through the Confit chat function before, during, and after the conference.
E-Poster Participation does not include on-site attendance or access to conference services in Kyoto.
However, it provides an opportunity to showcase your work to the international nitrogen community and other stakeholders participating in N2026, even if travel to Kyoto is not possible. Through the Confit platform, participants can share their research, receive feedback, and engage in discussions with colleagues from around the world.
Participants who later become able to travel to Kyoto may request conversion to In-Person Participation by paying the applicable fee difference. Conversely, participants who have registered for In-Person Participation may request conversion to E-Poster Participation if travel becomes impossible. In such cases, no refund of the fee difference will be provided in accordance with the conference cancellation policy.
As the regular oral presentation submission process has closed, abstracts submitted after June 15, 2026 will be accepted as poster presentations only. Please see the Call for Abstracts page for further details.

Registration
Participation from LDC
- If you wish to participate as the category of LDC, the N2026 Secretariat will send you the necessary documents for the VISA application, so please contact the secretariat via email after paying for the registration.
- A copy of your passport is required to issue the necessary documents. Please be sure to set password to the copy of your passport when you send it to the N2026 Secretariat.
- If you do not need any document regarding VISA application from Japan side, please contact us including the reason.
- If you do not follow the instructions above, including contact to the secretary, payment of the registration fee, and submission of a copy of your passport, before the registration deadline, we will cancel your registration.
- To allow enough time for visa preparation, the LDC registration deadline is set earlier on September 16, 2026. This measure is intended to support a smooth application process.
Student registration
- All students are required to submit their student ID with uploading on the registration site.
- You can register as a student as long as you are a student when you complete the registration. You will be accepted as a student even if you have been graduated on the day of the conference.
Excursion
Post-conference excursions are planned for November 7, 2026. Participants will be able to register for each course individually. Further details will be announced in due course as arrangements are finalized.
Visa Application Support
You are responsible for your visa application to enter Japan. Please check whether you require a visa by referring to the following website: https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html#section2
If you require a visa, you must apply at the Japanese Embassy or Consulate-General in your country. Please contact us at n2026@nta.co.jp as soon as possible. We will then provide instructions for the visa support fee (JPY 11,000).
Upon payment, we will issue the necessary visa support documents. The deadline for visa support requests is September 16, 2026.
Applicants are requested to carefully check and determine the timing of their visa application and passport renewal at their own responsibility.
Note: If you only require a standard "Official Invitation Letter" to confirm your participation (and do not need the full visa support document package), this can be issued free of charge. Please contact the secretariat for details.
